On Tuesday, June 20, 2017, Republican Karen Handel won a nationally watched congressional election in Georgia.
Handel's narrow victory over Democrat Jon Ossoff in Georgia's 6th Congressional District is at this time recognized as the most expensive House race in U.S. history, with a price tag that may exceed $50 million.
Handel held fundraisers attended by V.P. Mike Pence, House Speaker Paul Ryan, and President Donald Trump. Those fundraisers helped Handel raise more than $5 million, barely a fifth of Ossoff's fundraising amount. The Republican campaign establishment helped Handel make up the difference. A political action committee backed by Ryan spent $7 million.
Handel's previous attempts at gaining political office include a failed primary bid for governor in 2010 and a failed attempt for the U.S. Senate in 2014.
In April, Handel trailed Ossoff in the first round of voting, but led all Republican candidates to qualify for a runoff. Ossoff garnered 48 percent, just shy of an outright victory.
The results were in a historically conservative district. The results in Georgia, followed similar results in Montana, Kansas, and South Carolina, where Republicans won special House races by narrower margins as recent as November.
Democrats must flip 24 GOP held seats to regain a House majority next November.
Democratic party elected officials got to be the dumbest elected officials around. It is unbelievable that they don't see the fraud.
President Trump's election was fraudulent (rigged). And I don't mean meddling by Russia. I mean fraud committed by forces inside the United States. Remember Al Gore.
